Hey all
I'm not a New Yorker so if anyone here is from the city they probably know this already.
Duane Reade Pharmacy in NY on Broadway sells the color reversal films at somewhat normal prices. The reason I'm letting you all aware of this find is because they're open on Saturday unlike Pac-Lab and Kodak. Actually, the guy from Pac-Lab referred me to the Duane Reade pharmacy. Here;s the info
Duane Reade Pharmacy
4 W. 4th Street
New York, NY 10012
(212) 473-1027
9am to 9pm Sat.

Are the "somewhat normal prices" of the pharmacy's S8 reversal film cheaper than the prices you get ordering from Kodak direct or buying them from Pac Lab?
I don't live in NYC; I'm just curious.

Well, I think they're a bit higher than Kodak prices if I remember correctly.
Ektachrome was around 15 bucks and Kodachrome was like 13 bucks. Don't forget, you basically spend the same having Kodak ship you the film. Pac Lab pretty much charges the same for their film. The guy who answered the phone told me that the Duane Reade pharmacy carried all their stocks, so I'm guessing they're gonna be probably exactly the same. I think that the pharmacy also carries other types of movie film too, because the kid on the phone was reading off some other type of movie film that wasn't super-8, so I'll let you know when I go there in a few weeks to pick up my rolls.
Thry also carry Vision 200T film, but who gives a crap. That film sucks.

Unless I'm replying out of turn and you know this already:
Duane Reade can work. Make sure to check expiration dates (as they have a tendency to hold onto stock longer than most industry related film stores). Duane Reade is a pharmacy.
Check out Pac-Lab on-line at: www.pac-lab.com
They are the locals favorite for immediate turn-around/service/quality/indie-film people/everything else. They will also push/pull film for you.
Martin Baumgarten in the Adirondacks is the best.
Take it easy.

I am only giving Duane Reade as a reference being that they are open on Saturday...Pac-Lab is not. Also, since I'm not from the city, I just wanted to find a place that is open on the weekend since I won't be there during the week.
But let me ask you this - how old could this stock at the pharmacy possibly be? If people are selling Kodachrome sound film on eBay that expired 5 or 6 years ago and people are sure enough to buy it, then how old is reasonable to go with on an expiration date?

The Kodak some stocks that came out prior to the new year had a jitter problem (shoddy manufacturing by a subcontractor). They have since fixed it.
I haven't bought stock off e-bay so I don't have a good answer for that one.
Have fun in New York. There are many awesome things to check out.

If you buy $15 in nyc which is cool but how many rolls? If you buy 10 rolls from kodak would be cheaper. If you get 10 rolls of 15 dollars? It would be $100 and ship vs $150 dollars? What do you think? Jerome
